What is Legacy? is described by producer Jim Whyte as an "Instrumental Hip-Hop / Electronica project".  Jim is a husband and father-of-3 who hails from Toronto, Canada, who despite his parental duties and busy stage of life, manages to find time to write and finish music.  Much respect to you, sir!

"Subway Croon" is a laid-back, low tempo, late-night, lazy trip-hop vibe.  It appears to be the artist's first single, and it is quite a simple, loop-based arrangement. That said, I love the sound of the off-grid drums, the unusual synth pad note progression that keeps you guessing what scale the track is in, and the juxtaposition of electronic and organic instruments.  Lovely guitar licks provide a pleasing b-section to the digital synth heavy main section.

If I'm being honest, I found the featured vocal sample a little repetitive and uninspiring.  But elsewhere, there are some interesting, well chosen samples used for percussion and sonic interest, for example a sound almost like horses galloping, and something akin to a scratching noise.

Altogether, Subway Croon is well mixed and mastered, sounds thick and full, raw and crunchy in the right measure for this genre of music.  As a first release, I hope Jim is encouraged, there is much talent to build on, here.  Keep doing your thing!
